This glossary contains all the
relevant terms used during poker games. It is especially
useful for new players who want to become well educated
all-round players. ·

|
All-in - when
you do not have enough money to cover the full bet amount, you
may place your remaining money into the pot. You then contend
for an amount proportional to what you have contributed.
Ante - the minimum bet that each player must
place into the pot before betting begins. The ante is set
before any cards are dealt. |

|
Betting round
- when players each have a turn to bet, raise or check. Each
round of betting ends when the last bet or raise has been
called.
Big blind - an early forced bet placed by the
player sitting in second position clockwise from the dealer
before any cards are dealt. Usually a raise of the previous
player's small blind.
Bring-in - a mandatory bet made by the
Player with the lowest card in the Third Street (the first
round of betting).
Buy-in Amount - the amount you must bring into a
game. |

Community
cards - cards that are available to all players to
use for their hand. Usually dealt face-up in the center of the
table.
Cosrumer Authorization Documents (CAD) -
documents such as credit card photocopies, driving
license and bank reports that 24poker requires before
approving certain trasactions, in order to ensure that your
account is not being used by anyone but you. |

|
Dealer button
- a token placed in front of the player sitting in the virtual
dealer's position. The button rotates around the table so that
each player gets a chance to be the last to act.
Deck of cards - a single deck of 52 cards (excluding
jokers) for each hand.
Down cards - cards that are dealt face down.

|
|
Flop - the
first three community cards, dealt simultaneously facing up.
Fold - Players fold when they throw in their cards.
Once a player has folded they automatically relinquish their
claim on the pot in exchange for not making any further
contributions towards it. |

|
|
High stake -
The upper limit of the game, usually the amount used when
raising.
Hole cards - same as down cards.
Heads Up Tournament - Heads up tournaments involves
rounds of tournaments where two players play against each
other. Players play each other until one is eliminated. The
winner moves to the next round, where they play against
another winner from the previous round. This process
continues until there are only two people left to play one
another. These two play one another for first and second
place. If at the beginning of a tournament not all
enrolled players are present, then some players are dropped.
This ensures that the correct number of players begin to
enable two players to finish the tournament. The last players
to sign up are dropped from the tournament. Their buy-ins and
fees are refunded... |

|
Low stake -
The lower limit of the game, usually the amount used in big
blinds. |
|
|
|
|
Muck - If a
player does not wish to show his losing hand to the table, he
can choose to muck. The hand will then be discarded without
being displayed to the table.
MTT - Multi Table Tournament, which means
there is more than one table per tournament. the tournament
could have any number of tables.

|
|
Rake - Chips
taken from the pot by the cardroom as compensation for hosting
the game.
Raked Hands - A point credited towards a
player who has been dealt cards during a hand when the pot is
raked. The minimal pot rake is 25c. Note: Raked Hands are
not accumulated during tournament games. Certain amounts of
Raked Hands qualify you to enter certain tournaments, such as
Free Roll Tournaments.
Raked Games - A game in which the player
contributed to the pot and a rake for the house has been
taken. Note: tournaments do not have rakes, as the entrance
fees cover the house charges.
River - the fifth and final community final
card to be dealt in a hand. The river is dealt face-up.
RNG - Random Number Generator - The RNG
system generates a random set of numbers. Each newly
generated deck is rosette scrambled twice and split once to
ensure randomness and credibility. Decks are shuffled
before each new hand and each newly created deck is used for
that particular hand only.
Run - a betting cycle around the table. A
cycle from the first player to the last player is considered
one run.

Showdown -
This occurs after the last betting round when the remaining
players compare their hands to determine the winner. The
player with the highest hand wins the pot.
Small blind - The amount put in the pot by
the player to thet dealer button's left before any cards have
been dealt. The small blind is usually equal to half (or
less) of the big blind.
Stake - The amount of a player's Buy-In, or
the amount of money a player is willing to play within a given
game.
STT - Single Table Tournament
Sit & Go - a tournament in which you can
enter at any time by "buying-in". Just log on and sit.
When the table is full...go a head and play. Each Sit
& Go tournament has a different buy-in amount .
